Election talk hits fever pitch as Harper government loses two ethics rulings

With an election possibly just weeks away, the Harper government has suddenly found itself on its heels after devastating rulings from the Speaker that found the Tories have breached the privileges of MPs.

The development, which is bound to heighten partisan tension in the days ahead and fuel speculation about a spring election, was hailed Wednesday by opposition parties. They said it was evidence of their long-standing claims that the Conservative government is unethical, obsessed with secrecy and disrespectful of Parliament. [...]
