International aid organizations in Canada silenced by government

Canadian NGOs are denouncing an antidemocratic trend that means to control and silence civil society. Effectiveness of new international aid orientation is put into question as the system of development cooperation goes through radical transformation. (…)

Voices-Voix, a coalition of more than 200 Canadian organizations, was founded in 2010 to track and document government attacks on freedom of expression and to support democratic rights of Canadians. Through research, Voices-Voix aspires to collect evidence and encourage citizens to become aware of this trend that Fauret considers "insidious." (…)
